Do you find yourself in constant rush mode – always rushing around trying to get things done with no end in sight? Rushing around can become such a habit, that you may sometimes find yourself rushing even when there really is no need. I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “Stop and smell the roses”, which basically means that you need to stop, take a deep breath, and take some time to appreciate all that’s around you. When was the last time you enjoyed a leisurely walk, a nice cup of tea, or simply time to do nothing and just dream?
If you feel like you can’t slow down because there’s simply too much to do, take a few minutes to write down all of the responsibilities that are taking up all of your time. Then, ask yourself the following questions:
1. Do I say yes to every request that is asked of me?
2. Do I take on work that can easily be delegated?
3. Do I feel guilty if I’m not always being productive?
4. Am I considered the go-to person for certain tasks or activities?
5. Am I a bit of a control freak?
6. Am I a people pleaser?
7. Am I a procrastinator?
8. Am I a perfectionist?
If you answered yes to any of the above, work on changing one habit at a time, identify your priorities and write down your vision for a new and slower paced life. Soon, you will feel empowered to begin eliminating some of the time stealing tasks and responsibilities off your list. Continue this exercise until you feel more in control of your time and your life.

Good stuff! I always take on too much and don’t delegate…although over time, I am getting better….a few nervous breakdowns later!

I’ve become a subscriber to the do a few things well philosophy… unfortunately my kids and hubby subscribe to the chaos theory… they don’t always go together…

Uhm, hello, are you inside my head?! I answered YES to all your questions. Okay, maybe it is time to slow down. Can you please tell my 4 year old and 6 week old that mommy has to take a break? They seem to listen to others more than me (hehehe). Thanks for the tip. Hopefully, this is something I can do today.

Unfortunately, 6 week olds aren’t very good listeners! LOL Good luck with your efforts to slow down and congratulations on your new addition to the family.
Well .. I am a people pleaser and I am a bit of a control freak, actually a lot!
Great post, thanks for the tips.
Good thoughts – I’m guilty of number one. I have a hard time saying no. Thanks for sharing!
This is a great post. I can yes to almost all of these, put especially number 3. I really need to work on this!
Thanks… I’m suddenly reminded that I need to slow things down just a bit.
I’ve found a great way to quit feeling overwhelmed by things is to do things in little bursts. Then I’m not feeling rushed all of the time. I might spend 10 min in the kitchen cleaning then in an hr spend 10 in the living room. I just tell myself that it will get done! I am trying to learn to say no to people too. It’s a hard thing to do when you are used to saying yes!
